Join us in our Park Royal Hospital Learning Center to hear from Frank Diaz from the Florida Department of Health on The Culture of Western Medicine from The Cross Cultural Health Care Program.

The Objectives of this Module/Presentation are:

  • To understand the norms, values, and expectations of the culture of Western Medicine
  • To identify the diverse cultures represented in a medical interview – both medical and non- medical.
  • To assist providers in learning alternative and effective methods to negotiate to engage cross-culturally with diverse populations

About the Presenter:

Frank Diaz-Gines is the Southwest Regional Health Equity Coordinator for the Florida Department of Health. He works in coordination with Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Hendry, Glades, Highlands, Lee, Okeechobee and Sarasota to implement health equity plans and to address health disparities among populations at high-risk and underserved, including racial and ethnic minorities and rural communities.

Mr. Diaz-Gines graduated from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and holds a Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus. He has over 20 years’ experience in the health administration field both in private and public settings.

Mr. Diaz-Gines is a certified trainer on Equity and Inclusion from The Cross Cultural Health Care Program since May 2022.
